What is Architects Day?
Architects Day (previously known as Advocates for Architecture Day) is a special event hosted by the Texas Society of Architects. Architects from across the state converge on the Texas Capitol to meet with legislators to promote the importance of our profession. The next Architects Day will take place on February 7, 2017. Participants will meet in the morning to receive special training on key issues and messages we wish to share with legislators, as well as tips for conducting successful visits. Legislative meetings will happen in the afternoon.
How to Register
Online registration for 2017 Architects Day is now closed. You will be able to register onsite next Tuesday, February 7, at the AT&T Center Amphitheater starting at 8:00 a.m. If you plan on attending, please email Sharna Haine so that we can allocate you to a team in advance.
You may wish to check with your local AIA chapter to see if other local colleagues are travelling to Austin. Some chapters will charter buses to the event.
Schedule of Events: February 7
8:00 a.m. Registration begins. Meet at the AT&T Conference Center on Martin Luther King Blvd. in the Amphitheatre. Coffee and refreshments included.
9:00 a.m. Program begins – Training/ information session conducted by TxA's Senior Advocate David Lancaster, Hon. AIA.
11:30 a.m.–4:00 p.m. Move to Capitol. (Lunch ticket will be provided for Capitol Cafeteria.) Team Leaders will work with their teams to meet with legislators throughout the afternoon.
