Michael J. Armstrong, CEO of the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards (NCARB), announced recently that the Architect Registration Examination® (ARE®) will be changing content management providers in the summer of 2013. This shift will require an 8-week blackout for both Member Boards and exam candidates starting July 1, 2013. The downtime will affect testing schedules.
Please see the following announcement from NCARB.
"In order to facilitate the migration of information from Prometric to Alpine, we will need to enact an estimated 8-week blackout for both Member Boards and exam candidates beginning July 1, 2013. This means that candidates will not be able to schedule any exam divisions, nor will we be able to administer any examinations during that blackout period. The blackout will be announced to candidates before the end of the year. It is important to note that there will be no changes to exam content post-blackout. Due to the change in scheduling procedure, candidates will not be able to schedule an exam division with an administration date after June 30, 2013 until the blackout is completed. Because we recognize this will inconvenience ARE candidates, we have arranged to provide a 12-week extension to each candidate’s rolling clock."
