Building the Belo Center for New Media in Two Minutes

Watch the two-year construction of the University of Texas at Austin's Belo Center for New Media in this two-minute time-lapse video. The project was designed by the Lawrence Group. Located at the northeast corner of Dean Keeton and Guadalupe streets, the Belo Center provides interactive classrooms and meeting space for more than 4,200 students in the college and houses the adjacent KUT Public Media Studios.

Click on the rendering above to view a time-lapse video of the Belo Center's construction in under two minutes. The area began as a parking lot, transformed into a patch of dirt, and eventually rose five stories tall into a building. Construction began March 25, 2010, and the time-lapse ends July 25, 2012 (2 years, 4 months). The Belo Center will have a dedication accessible to the public in November 2012.

Earl Swisher, AIA, will lead a tour of the Belo Center for New Media during the Texas Society of Architects Annual Convention, October 18-20.

P and S Masonry located in Hamilton, Texas did an excellent job with the installation of brick etc..... as they do on all UT Projects. This project employed brick layers, electricians , etc.... provided jobs, thus providing food for the table and insurance for family. The University of Texas Construction projects contributes to higher education and the Central Texas Economy!
