Class Code: 24

Room 104 / Convention Center First Floor

"Notational Drawing" will introduce participants to a variety of drawing techniques and conventions useful in analyzing and comprehending architecture. The session will place specific emphasis on drawing and sketching in situ - at "in place of' - making the session particularly useful for the design studio, and for those intending on traveling and sketching architecture. Attendees will walk and sketch in the downtown area adjacent to the Convention Center, and particular emphasis will be placed on cultivating the participants' ability to observe and comprehend architectural ideas through drawn analysis. The class heavily stresses the fact that drawing is a "knowledge-based activity," and the cultivation of the participants' literacy of architecture through drawing is fundamental.
In the case of inclement weather, the walk and sketch will take place indoors at the Kimbell Art Museum, the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth, and the Amon Carter Museum. Attendees will need to provide transportation on their own.
This workshop is limited to 80 attendees.
