Room 202 CD / Convention Center Second Floor
Fireside Chats are an opportunity for Emerging Professionals to have small, intimate conversations with established architects. For this Chat, 25 Emerging Professionals will be speaking with Dan Shipley, FAIA, of Shipley Architects.
Winner of a 2013 Texas Society of Architects Design Award and the founder of Residential Architect magazine's Top Firm of 2010, Dan Shipley often advises emerging professionals to first work for a builder or subcontractor - anything that will give them some hands-on construction experience. "The real world isn't about paper," he says. "It's about materials, grease, dirt, and all that kind of stuff." Having worked for a framing company, HKS, Inc., Thomas & Booziotis Architects (now Booziotis & Co. Architects), and now having owned his own firm for several years, Dan is a meticulous, considerate, resourceful designer with experience in all areas of design and construction.
This session is reserved for Emerging Professionals. In addition, only 25 registrants can attend.
