Design has the power to transform lives, communities and cities. The investment of an urban design advisory function within the decision making process is happening globally to improve the physical shape of cities and build economic competitiveness. Each year hundreds of decisions are made investing millions of dollars and entitling hundred of acres of land in our cities. Peer review panels offer a way to increase local capacity to achieve higher standards in development by delivering high-quality, independent advice from a range of design professionals.
This presentation and panel will explore the creation and performance of the City of Dallas's Urban Design Peer Review Panel (UDPRP). The UDPRP provides urban design advice for a variety of projects throughout the City of Dallas including projects applying for Tax Increment Financing (TIF) funding and municipal projects within existing or previous TIF districts or designated area plans. Presenters will include Dallas city staff and a peer review panel member.
