Since 2011, Texas Society of Architects has called the building at 500 Chicon home.
After two years of research, analysis, and visioning with STG Design in Austin, the Board decided to sell the building to better suit the Society’s and staff needs.
“The Texas Society of Architects Executive Committee and Board, as the trusted fiduciaries of the organization, embraced a bold and visionary course of action,” says 2024 President Derwin Broughton, AIA. “Recognizing the opportunities presented by market demand and the limitations imposed by our current facilities, we made the strategic and forward-thinking decision to proceed with the sale of 500 Chicon. This transformative move paves the way for a stronger future, positioning the organization to better serve and empower our members and staff for years to come.”
Our last day in 500 Chicon was May 1. The TxA HQ Transition Task Force and TxA Executive Committee have chosen a new home for TxA a few blocks away at 1515 E Cesar Chavez St., Suite 220. The building is member-designed by Chioco Design, with Urban Foundry Architecture as the Architect of Record. It is also an AIA Austin 2025 Design Award winner!
“This is a great opportunity to have the right amount of space for our day-to-day needs in a new, member-designed building,” says 2025 President Jason E. Puchot, AIA. “We look forward to this new opportunity to fulfill the mission of our Society in a beautifully designed space.”
The TxA Staff and TxA HQ Transition Task Force are working to furnish and customize our new space before we move in later this summer. Please contact us by phone or email as staff works remotely until the move.
Hopefully we’re not renting space long term. We’ve been down that road before.
