All of NCARB’s 54 U.S. jurisdictions have an experience requirement that must be documented and completed before one becomes licensed. This time between fulfilling the education requirement and getting licensed is referred to as an architectural internship. NCARB’s Architectural Experience Program (AXP) guides aspiring architects through this process and is the standard accepted means of completing the experience requirement in almost all U.S. jurisdictions.
The award is a one-time reimbursement of $500 for taking the Architect Registration Examination.
Applicants for the Architect Registration Examination (ARE) may begin testing after education, six months’ approved experience under the direct supervision of a registered architect, and enrollment in the Intern Development Program (IDP) through NCARB.
